TYPICAL SYMPTOMS - THE THREE MOST CRITICAL PHASES

PHASE 3
HOPING FOR THE BEST …

You notice disturbing divergence on certain core issues and values.
Contention and aggression during discussions are increasing.
The outside world has already begun to notice the discord.
You do not want to dramatise, hoping instead for the best.
There is already less genuine joint-solving of problems.
The problems inside the relationship have intensified.
You have offered several initiatives to restore good relations.
You now realise that the external knock-on effects could be costly.
There are many crucial matters which require full cooperation now.
Your own friends and allies are expressing split opinions about the alliance.

PHASE 4
THE BEGINNING OF THE END?

You are beginning to seriously question the other side's motives.
There are negative suspicions about the other side's true intent.
Discussions and meetings are tiring and counter-productive.
Each side has started to avoid the other and retreat.
You are suffering from a lack of transparency.
The fronts are beginning to harden.
You are calculating the cost and the benefit to-date.
It is getting increasingly difficult to invest the necessary energy.
The "love affair" is not over, but you are thinking about other options.
Frustrations have risen and your tolerance levels have sunk dramatically.

Phase 5
TURN THE CLOCK BACK, PLEASE!

You feel that your trust and good intentions have been grossly misused.
You are seeking legal counsel and/or a face-saving solution.
You recognise the need to secure your own position.
The diverging positions are clearly entrenched.
The negative knock-on effects are spiralling.
You realise the extent of the damage and the personal cost.
You wish you had undertaken more drastic measures earlier.
Now you have to minimise the losses and make up for lost time.
There is a lot at stake, but it seems too late. Can anything be done?
It's no comfort when others say: "I warned you". You need drastic solutions.
